Study visit to Denmark on energy efficiency in construction and housing sectors
A study visit of the Kaliningrad delegation was held from 16 to 22 March, 2014 in the framework the NCM funded project “Energy cooperation with North-West Russia”. The visit was devoted to the best practices of energy efficiency technology application in the construction and housing sectors.
Among participants of the Kaliningrad delegation there were representatives of the regional Ministry of housing policy involved in developing and reforming the housing sector of the Kaliningrad region, the head of the Energy Efficiency Centre of the I.Kant Baltic Federal University, business companies related to housing management and maintenance, development of comprehensive energy efficiency solutions, as well as experts on public awareness campaigning aimed at improving economic and energy efficiency in apartment buildings in the process of their exploitation.
The programme of the visit included a three-day training session prepared by the Danish experts of the Green Seminars www.greenseminars.com in the sphere of energy planning. A number of site visits were held to the houses and other objects in order to learn practical applications of energy efficiency technologies, as well as the formation of energy efficiency model of home owners behavior.
It was quite interesting for participants to study energy efficiency in construction and housing sectors which is being carried out at the highly technological Science Park of the Danish Technological University, to learn experiences of the Production School in Sonderborg, and to compare possibilities of renovation of apartment buildings in Russia with the renovation project of the housing area built in 1960s in Denmark. The association of tenants which owns the housing area was the winner of the competition «Nordic Built Challenge».
Participants of the visit were very much impressed by systematic activities carried out by municipalities and specialized organisations of Denmark on informing the tenants and the general public about possibilities and benefits of energy efficiency technology application in the process of renovation works, and following an environmental policy in the development of the society and all its elements. It is worth mentioning that the results of the above approach are seen everywhere in everyday life.
According to Ms. Eugenia Kukushkina, Deputy Minister of Housing and Energy of the Kaliningrad region, every participant was able to get information and experiences which are relevant and interesting for them and could be applied in their practical work either today or in the near future.
The coordinators of the visit from the Danish side expressed their expectation for the continuation of the cooperation with Kaliningrad in future.
