Mission and tasks
The Information office was established in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Nordic Council of Ministers on the establishment of the Information Office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Kaliningrad signed in Moscow, December 22, 2005.
The main objective of the Office activities is assistance to development of contacts and cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Denmark, Republic of Iceland, the Kingdom of Norway, Finland Republic and the Kingdom of Sweden in the field of information, education, science, health protection, environmental protection and culture.
The main tasks of the Office are as follows:

coordination and implementation of the working programs of the Nordic Council of Ministers on the territory of Kaliningrad region;

coordination and support of Russian, regional and international projects and programs in the field of information, education, science, health protection, environmental protection and culture;

organization of trainings and process of professional development for research officers and specialists, teachers and students in the framework of programs of the Nordic Council of Ministers on exchange of scientific brainpower;

provision of financial support for arrangement of conferences and seminars in the indicated areas, assistance in giving and receiving grants;

creation of favorable conditions for development of cooperation and experience exchange, improvement of the system of communication and information exchange between specialists of the Northern-Western part of Russia and the Northern countries;
-
creation of the data bases and information systems on main directions of the Office activities; improvement, development and popularization of new methods elaborated as a result of implementation of projects and programs;
-
support to direct contacts with Russian governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, authorities, mass media, and individuals.
