X Biannual Graphic Arts Exhibition of Baltic Sea States
The Kaliningrad Art Gallery will host a grand opening of X Biannual Graphic Arts Exhibition of the Baltic Sea States ‘Kaliningrad-Koenigsberg’ at 5 p.m. on September 15, 2011, the exhibition being one of the major events in the cultural palette of contemporary Europe.
The anniversary biannual exhibition has a motto ‘Integration and Interaction’ and will bring together the works of artists from Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. Over 300 works in printed graphics will be exhibited (the organizers have decided to hold printed and original graphics contests separately starting from this year).
The project has been implemented since 1990. It is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Culture of the Kaliningrad Region, the international committee ARS BALTICA, the Nordic Culture Fund (Denmark), and culture institutions of the participant countries. It is in demand, it is topical, and it keeps drawing the attention of artists, prominent cultural figures, art historians, and art critics. Having become a convenient platform for interesting artistic communication, it discovers new names, introduces pursuits of new images, artistic formats and techniques. Holding the exhibition resulted in the unique collection of contemporary graphic arts works in the Kaliningrad Art Gallery. The collection is worth comparing to the ones in the country’s principal museums.
