Sound around Kaliningrad. International Forum of Experimental Music and Sound Art
On December 9-11th 2011 artists, musicians, curators and experimental music and sound art researchers from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Lithuania and Latvia will meet in Kaliningrad to hold master-classes and give concerts and performances.
The Sound around Kaliningrad forum aims at establishing a communication network between institutions, curators and artists from Russia, the Baltic and Nordic countries who work with sound art and experimental music. The December meeting will break the ice for the future events scheduled for 2012 which include master-classes and the Sound around Kaliningrad festival to be held on May 23-27th. The activities in the framework of the project are targeted at familiarizing the Kaliningrad audience with the work of the leading Scandinavian and Baltic sound artists.
The Sound around Kaliningrad forum follows up on such international projects as “Audio tourism”, “Sound Art Camp” and “Acoustic Diagnostics” which present the latest strategies in sound art and contemporary music and are being implemented by the Baltic Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts since 2005.
