Vladimir G. Titov, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, hosted the meeting with Halldór Ásgrímsson, the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, on 20 October.

Main aim of the meeting was to discuss activities of international regional organisations in the North of Europe focusing on initiatives implemented within the Guidelines for the Nordic Council of Ministers’ co-operation with North-West Russia for the period of 2009-2013.

Co-operation activities of the Nordic Council of Ministers in education, research, environmental protection, social and health sectors were specifically highlighted. Both sides have confirmed its commitments to strengthen Russia-Nordic interactions further in coordination with other regional councils active in the North of Europe.
