The first study visit within the project “Sustainable business cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region”
The first study visit within the project “Sustainable business cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region” funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers took place from 3 to 6 October 2011 to Denmark (Copenhagen) and Sweden (Malmo and Lund).
Among participants there were representatives of the Kaliningrad Regional Government (Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Agriculture and Agency on Tourism), Administrations of municipalities (Kaliningrad, Gusev and Svetly), I.Kant Baltic Federal University and Kaliningrad State Technical University, Association of investors in the Kaliningrad region and Baltic Business Club. Mr. Arne Grove, Director of the Information Office of the Nordic Council of Ministers took part in the visit.
During four days of the visit participants learnt the history of cluster development in Denmark and Sweden, as well as the world experience of cluster approach to the development of economics and met with experts of the Danish Cluster Academy. At the theoretical and practical sessions the models of cluster management and cluster facilitation were presented and discussed, participants got acquainted with possibilities of cross-cluster cooperation. Ms. Poline Rasmussen, senior adviser of the Nordic Council of Ministers Secretariat, presented activities of the NCM on cluster development.
Representatives of the Kaliningrad delegation had meetings with the most advanced clusters in Denmark and Sweden – biotech and life science cluster (Medicon Valley Cluster ), IT, Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, as well as the tourist cluster (Wonderful Copenhagen).
Russian participants visited Copenhagen University and Innovation Centre in the Lund University in Sweden. The scientists and representatives of authorities and business have got the knowledge on how the Triple Helix concept (cooperation of authorities, business and universities for the commercialization of researches and technologies) works in practice in the Nordic countries.
At the interactive session with the Danish expert Thomas Winter participants analyzed the most perspective clusters in the Kaliningrad region and established better cooperation among main stakeholders of the cluster development.
The next project activity is the Cluster training which will be held on 14-16 November 2011 in Kaliningrad.
