Creativity as Business
Twelve representatives of the Kaliningrad region took up studying at a distance Creative Entrepreneur School carried out by a Moscow agency Creative Industries on February 15, 2012. In total, there are 80 people from 24 Russian regions and every seventh student is from the Kaliningrad region.
Such success comes to a great extent from the project Development of Creative Industries in the Kaliningrad Region implemented by Tranzit, agency for support of cultural initiatives, in partnership with the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The project is aimed at promoting various creative businesses in the Kaliningrad region – from museums to production of computer games – including support of interaction between business, culture, education, and authorities.
The project’s laboratory-like workshops consider specific tasks for setting up creative businesses in Kaliningrad. Moreover, discussions involve experts from the Nordic countries, Baltic states, and Russia of course.
Creative Industries presented Creative Entrepreneur School within one of the workshops in December 2011. By the way, the School is co-organised by Tranzit headed by Yulia Bardoun.
The Kaliningrad audience has turned out to be the most prepared one. So, we submitted 16 applications and 12 of them were successful. As a result, the local creative entrepreneurs will acquire new knowledge, assistance of international experts in creating projects, PR-support, and useful contacts.
We hope that the participants of Creative Entrepreneur School will share the acquired experience and knowledge with all Kaliningraders concerned at next workshops within the creative project by the Nordic Council of Ministers and Tranzit Agency.
From the first hands
Victoria Korneva: “I learnt about Creative Entrepreneur School within the workshop on creative techniques From Idea to Product: How to Pack Impressions held by Tranzit and the Nordic Council of Ministers.
I thought it is great that now you have this opportunity to learn, understand, promote your own project, a creative project!
The idea to apply didn’t come at once. Going over different ideas and unimplemented projects in my mind, I thought that they didn’t suit the criteria or might be not that much interesting. However, two heads are better than one. Thanks to Olga Dmitrieva, creative person and artist, I understood that we had the idea that was worth coming true. So, we are co-authors. In brief, this is an interactive and unconventional excursion to the Kaliningrad region.
Now that the training has started and having seen the course materials and attended the first lectures, I am sure that I am moving in the right way to implement our project.”
Olga Yuritsyna: “I participated in the project Development of Creative Industries in the Kaliningrad Region organised by Tranzit Agency and the Information Office of the Nordic Council of Ministers. Besides the workshops rich in content, we were introduced to a distance learning programme Creative Entrepreneur School (Moscow). My project and application have been successful and now I will get a chance to study and be consulted by experts in creative industries for 4 months to promote and implement my project. I am very happy that the applications of another eleven my counterparts have been successful thanks to Tranzit. It may seem that twelve ‘educated’ creative entrepreneurs in the region are not many but we will be glad to share our knowledge with others.”
