BRISK-RU - Russian component of Sub-regional risk of spill of oil and hazardous substances in the Baltic Sea (BRISK).
The BRISK-RU project (2010 -2012) is developed as a Russian component for the EU-financed project “Sub-regional risk of spill of oil and hazardous substances in the Baltic Sea” (BRISK) and is financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Budget of the project is 1 500 000 DKK. Both projects are developed as a response to the increased risk of accidents and environmental damage in the Baltic Sea due to significant increase in ship traffic in the Baltic Sea with a common objective of reaching the goals of the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan and the EU Baltic Sea Strategy.
The specific objective of BRISK-RU is to ensure and facilitate participation of relevant Russian stakeholders in the implementation of the BRISK project with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Russia and its neighbouring countries in the two maritime areas: the Gulf of Finland and South-East Baltic Proper.
The project is being implemented in close cooperation with BRISK project in order to ensure the compliance of objectives, activities and results between these projects.
BRISK-RU is managed by the Information office of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Kaliningrad. The Central Marine Research & Design Institute Ltd. in St. Petersburg is the Lead Partner of the project. Besides, partners of BRISK-RU are the Danish Admiral Fleet HQ, HELCOM and COWI A/S.
