The NCM office in Kaliningrad actively participates in the implementation of the HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan (BSAP) from May 2008 by arranging Stakeholder workshops in North-West Russia.
HELCOM Baltic Sea Action Plan was adopted by the Ministers of the Environment of the Member States of HELCOM at the meeting on 15 November 2007 in Krakow, Poland. The implementation of the action plan will help to drastically reduce pollution to the Baltic Sea and restore its good ecological status by 2021.
The overall objective of Stakeholder workshops is to facilitate involvement of local stakeholders into the process of implementation of the Baltic Sea Action Plan for North-West Russia. The outcome of these workshops is the development of Recommendations on the implementation of the BSAP in North-West Russia by the Governments of North-West Russia regions, which will then be taken into consideration while preparing National Implementation Programmes for BSAP implementation.
The workshops are organized on the HELCOM Secretariat’s initiative with the support of the Governments of North-West Russia regions together with the Information offices of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg.
